Prepping your Piece

Some participants like to prepare and sketch their artwork prior to class! Below i’ll show you a few quick steps to sketch your composition guide in-advance.

You do not have to prepare your piece as i’ll be covering this is class live. Also, you do not have to follow my sketch exactly, please feel free to take any creative liberties you so wish!

Step 3:

Gather a paint brush and your fluorescent pink paint.

Step 1

Grab a pencil and the surface that you’ll be painting on. In this case, I will be painting on a 12 x 12 in canvas.

Step 2: Sketch you bouquet

With your pencil, sketch an outline of your bouquet. I used simple circles to represent the general shapes of where i’ll place the peonies. This a sketch and doesn’t have to be perfect, keep it loose!

  • Start with the center flower and place it in or near the center of your canvas.

  • From there, sketch circles around the center circle until you have a total of six circles. It’s okay if these overlap as we want the flowers to feel as if they’re bunched together.

  • Sketch a flower at the top of your center flower that looks as though it’s opening upward.

  • Finish by filling in the outer areas with leaves of different shapes

Step 4

Paint your surface with the fluorescent pink. Feel free to mix a little water in with your pink paint to make it more transparent. Cover the entire canvas.

Our piece is ready to paint! See you in class !
